Fall 2020 One Room Challenge - Week 1: Grant's Backyard "Before"
/If you’re new to our work and our blog, hello and welcome! My name is Carley Brandon, Strategy Manager for Canada’s best telecommunications company TELUS by day, Redesigner by night and “Love” to Grant and “Mommy” to Matthew and Lily around the clock.
This will be my 8th One Room Challenge as a guest participant after transforming my daughter Lily’s room (Spring 2017), my Bedroom/Office (Fall 2017), our Stairway Library (Spring 2018), my Niece Audrey and Nephew Clark’s rooms (Fall 2018), my son Matthew’s room (Spring 2019) , our Cottage Bunkie (Fall 2019) and Laundry Room (Spring 2020).
Here we go again! It’s Week 1 of the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge and over the next few weeks we’ll be transforming Grant’s backyard! This Spring we added some major curb appeal to Grant’s front yard through landscaping, new lights, painting the front door and replacing the eavestrough and chimney.
We spent most of the summer in the backyard - really living in the space. We would spend hours each night at the patio table eating dinner and talking until the sun went down and now that it’s a little cooler we’ve been lighting a fire to extend the season.
Over the next 5 weeks we’re hoping to work around the weather and give this space some love starting with:
a new brick patio
shed makeover
new weatherproof doors (garage & kitchen)
new fence
new lighting
landscaping
fire pit
tree trimming
We have a couple of DIYs planned for Matthew and Lily and a few projects for Grant but I’ll be doing most of the work with my brother-in-law David who will be operating all the toys (bucket truck, bobcat, auger).
Follow along here and on Instagram for all the behind the scenes action in the coming weeks. Please also follow along with other guest participants and featured designers for what will be the best One Room Challenge yet!
