Fall 2019 One Room Challenge - Week 5: Holy Shed!
/Holy shed! It’s Week 5 of the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge and it’s hard to believe that this little amazing space was once a derelict shed on our cottage property. After Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 focused on the exterior and Week 4 on finding special pieces to complete the space, we’re moving inside!
After framing, wiring, insulating and cladding the inside walls with exterior paneling, my brother (and contractor) Paul has built a pretty amazing shell for all of the munchkins in our family.
Paint it white!
The inside of the bunkie has so many unique angles and lines with the paneling so painting it white was the best choice. Instead of using my go-to warm creamy “Cloud White” by Benjamin Moore we went with a clean and crisp white called “Chantilly Lace”, also by Benjamin Moore. This space needs to feel young, vibrant, fun and fresh and act a clean backdrop for green painted side tables and that vintage tole chandelier shared in Week 4. Chantilly Lace was the perfect white for this room.
Night Moves
My boyfriend Grant and I spent our date night Saturday night moving and assembling the bunk beds for the space. We we really lucky to find a bunk with 3 single beds (1 being a trundle) on Kijiji and his parents gave us a bunk bed from their cottage which was amazing.
After the bunk beds were loaded in we quickly realized that we had way more space inside than previously thought. any of us thought. With only two days before our photo shoot with Rowell Photography I’ve got some serious work to do on sourcing a few more pieces and styling. Antiques on 11 North - here I come!
